Simple yet enjoyable local dishes: Restaurant Cafè Es Pes de sa Palla (5. April 2021)

| June 7, 2021 | 0 Comments

If you don’t have a reservation for a restaurant these days, you can just consider yourself lucky if you find a place which is open and still has a table free to have lunch (since restaurants are currently only allowed to be open till 5pm in Spain). And you’re even more lucky if the place also offers decent food. As an appetizer a tart is served which was nice.

The “croqueta de pollo y jamón iberico” (EUR 1.50) and the”croqueta de pescado y gambas” (EUR 1.50) were both good but I definitely liked the chicken and ham croquette much more than the fish and prawn croquette since the latter had a strong flavor of seafood.

The good thing when you order something and don’t know what it is (since there was no Spanish, no English, and no German menu, only a Catalan version) is that you get surprised. It turns out that “cogollos con ventresca de atún” (EUR 9.00) is basically “salad hearts with tuna” (EUR 9.00) and it was, frankly speaking, simple but surprisingly good.

The “secreto ibérico” (EUR 11.00) con “pimientos asados” (EUR 4.50) looked relatively unappealing but turned out to be decent. The pork was much juicier than expected and – in combination with the roasted peppers – actually quite enjoyable all in all.

The place is lovely as you get to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the warm weather, it’s spacious, and last but not least, it’s nice since the service is friendly and competent. Only when it comes to ordering the bill and paying by card, it took them a good while to finally be able to get that task completed.
