Delicious à la carte menu with a view: Restaurant DINS à la carta (6. April 2021)

| June 10, 2021 | 0 Comments

Unfortunately, the DINS restaurant (which has 1 Michelin star) was closed due to Covid-19 but they opened the DINS à la carta which doesn’t offer tasting menus but an equally delicious menu. Once you’re seated, you are served a “tomato and ajo soup” with “meat croquettes” and “smoked butter and bread” which is truly a nice start for your lunch.

The “Callos” Mallorcan Style (stew typical from subsistence cooking, elevated to delicacy due to its texture and unctuousness, with a spicy touch)” (EUR 14.00) is really something unique as it is a kind of soul food which is simple and enjoyable but in terms of consistency also rather surprising as it is something I would probably usually not eat just like that if it wasn’t prepared the way it is.

The “roasted shoulder of Mallorcan “Porc Negre” suckling pig from can company (very slowly roasted to a crispy skin and served with sour pomegranate sauce, a small salad and potatoes, a holiday dish)” (EUR 32.00) was exquisite. The meat was perfect as it basically fell apart when you touched it with a fork and was incredibly delicious in terms of flavor and intensity of the dish. The potatoes and the little salad with which it was served was overall fine but definitely nothing special.

The “ponx del rei en Jaume (ice cream made from citrus fruits, spices and cava that belongs to the history of Ca’n Joan de s’Aigo)” (EUR 3.00) was a piece of ice cream which was interesting in its flavor and definitely something I haven’t tried before. The cava which was added didn’t really add anything to the dish though but actually made it worse.

Last but not least, you got some Chocolate candy which was intense and good to finish off lunch.

What I liked a lot about the DINS is the fact that the restaurant is a rooftop restaurant and you have a nice view over Palma if you manage to get a table at the corner of the terrace. The white wine chosen to accompany the meal was the “Na Blanca (Sergio Navarro, Vinyes de Formentor, Pollença Viognier, Giró Ros, Malvasía de Banyalbufar)” (EUR 45.00) which was decent and refreshing. The staff did a good job and was friendly and helpful throughout the whole meal making it very enjoyable and something to remember. So, to sum it up, it’s pivotal for you to book your table in advance – and it is worth doing so as they offer good dishes in a nice setting!
