A safe bet for tasty Italian food – with a slight main course delivery delay: Restaurant Brera Zurigo (9. June 2021)

| July 7, 2021 | 0 Comments

It is almost a year ago since I’ve paid the Restaurant Brera a visit and I’m happy it’s still open as it is still a lovely place to go. To start, it’s always nice to enjoy a cocktail like the “Non Capisco” (CHF 18.00) which was refreshing and great to get your taste buds started.

The “Tagliere. Mortadella. Salami. Prosciutto. Burratina. Scamorza. Gorgonzola. Mostarda. Focaccia.” (CHF 29.00) is really the perfect platter to share. You have a bit of everything for everyone, so it is nice to get started.

A plate of “Burrata e datterini. Basil.” (CHF 19.00) is always a safe bet and the tomatoes were surprisingly aromatic and enjoyable. So, it was even much better than just your average tomatoes with burrata.

Last but not least, the third starter to share we picked was “beef carpaccio. rocket salad. Parmesan. Datterini. Focaccia” (CHF 26.00) which was good – but not as good as the other two.

Somehow, something went wrong in the kitchen (or with dispatching our second order) since the time between the starters and the main was just somewhat too much. We waited a solid 45 minutes for … pizza. To be fair, the pizza was great. But … 45 minutes?

The “Pizza Salame. fried capers. onion rings. smoked chili. fennel.” (CHF 29.00) and “additional anchovies” (+ CHF 5.00) was great. However, CHF 5.00 for anchovies on top? I mean, what??? That is just a rip-off, and absolutely nothing else!

In conclusion, the Restaurant Brera offers great dishes at (besides the anchovies) absolutely fair prices. The service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is nice. So, from my perspective – despite the much delayed delivery of the main course – a place you can absolutely visit again and I’d recommend you to book your table in advance.
