Flexible kitchen and delicious Fegato alla Veneziana: Restaurant Taverna del Sud (18. June 2021)

| July 16, 2021 | 0 Comments

I figured that it’s also 9.5 years ago since I’ve been to the Taverna del Sud – and the place still exists and looks just like back then. I went for the “pizza pane con aglio” (EUR 3.60) as a starter which was basically pizza bread with some seasoning – and it was good to start and kill the waiting time, given I had skipped breakfast.

While they did not officially have that on the menu but offered liver in one piece, I had asked for “fegato alla Veneziana” (EUR 22.50) and got it. And it was great. The liver was cooked perfectly, the seasoning was perfect, and the sauce was good and plenty.

And even the “papardelle with butter” which I had asked for as a side dish were great. Almost perfectly al dente (a bit overcooked) and just great in terms of flavor. One had to wait a bit for the main to get served – admittedly – but they told us when we had placed the order. And then, from my personal perspective, that’s perfectly fine!

All in all, the Taverna del Sud is definitely a restaurant where you can go for lunch. The only downside we had this day was the fact that their POS terminal didn’t work and we had to pay by cash – which I usually don’t carry with me. So, luckily my company had cash and we were able to settle things easily. But and especially in times of Corona, that’s a bit of a bummer if you get into a restaurant and then figure out – at the end of the meal – that you cannot pay by card (but apparently usually you can).
