Traditional Bavarian dishes with swift service: Restaurant Leib & Seele (30. June 2021)
When you haven’t been eating anything for the whole day and finally get to breath a bit so you are desperately looking for a restaurant which still serves food at around 2.45pm, you might just end up at the Leib & Seele. And, to be fair, it was not our first choice but it turned out to be a very positive surprise.
Once seated, we got the menu within a minute and beverage orders were taken within the same amount of time. I decided to get something quickly before the main course and went for the “tomato cream soup with fresh basil” (EUR 4.50) which was served within two to three minutes – but turned out to be quite nice since it was aromatic and relatively thick (and not too watery like it is so often the case).
The “pork roast from Resch prepared in a dark beer sauce and a potato dumpling” (EUR 12.50) was a simple but also rather heavy meal. Once you’ve eaten that, you’re definitely full. Which is perfect if you haven’t eaten all day but is not so perfect if you’re supposed to continue working afterwards.
The “cabbage salad” which comes as a side provides a bit of relief in terms of heaviness of the dish – which definitely helps to balance out the pork roast.
The drink “Greenhorn” (EUR 3.20) was refreshing – and optically aggressive – but did the trick.
To sum it up, the dishes in the Restaurant Leib & Seele really address the needs of ‘body and soul’ – heavy but tasty German cuisine helping you to fall into a food coma right after. But, the place is also nice in terms of atmosphere (traditional though) and the waitress was super friendly, swift and attentive – just how it should be!
