Nice view but the service isn’t up to the task yet: Restaurant RIVO Spreeterrassen (10. August 2021)

| September 17, 2021 | 0 Comments

The RIVO Spreeterrassen only opened recently in July – and you can see that there is potential. Potential going forward but also potential for improvement. The place is located close to the river Spree (as the name suggests) and you’re basically seated right next to it. The service is definitely friendly but lacks experience, speed, and efficiency. It took all a good while until we finally got a menu and even longer until they took up the order.

As a starter I went for the “beef tatar (mustard caviar, pearl onions, red pepper aioli)” (EUR 14.00) which was absolutely good. The meat was tasty but of course also largely impacted by the red pepper aioli and had a bit too much spring onion (which is quite dominant) for my personal gusto.

The “entrecôte ‘prime steer’ (250gr)” (EUR 26.00) with “Pure & Rustic Fries” (EUR 4.00) was okay. It was cooked to temperature medium as requested and was okay in terms of quality and texture. However, not really what one would call a foodie experience. The fries on the other hand were rather standard. And the fact that you only get a piece of meat is kind of off – some kind of sauce or at least a piece of vegetable on the side is something what one would expect.

I was looking forward to my specifically ordered “wild broccoli” (EUR 4.00) which had about 3 wild broccoli inside and else some leaves and cauliflower. All good, it didn’t taste bad – however, that’s not really what I had ordered.

So, all in all, the RIVO Spreeterrassen is a nice place due to its location and the food is actually good too. However, there is definitely room for improvement. Personally, I was lucky but some of our party were less lucky with the meat not being cooked to temperature, respectively the wrong temperature being prepared.
