Absolutely exquisite lunch experience with flawless service: Restaurant Corrèze (3. September 2021)

| October 15, 2021 | 0 Comments

The Corrèze showed up on our list when we were looking for something to eat for lunch – and since it was a bit late for lunch (around 2.30/3.00pm), it wasn’t entirely easy to find a place which would still serve food. Luckily, we found the Corrèze and were taken care of very well by our waiter Phil. I started lunch with a good “Basil Tai (cointreau, light rum, dark rum, lime, almond)” (EUR 31 PLN) which was refreshing and perfect to get into the weekend.

The lunch then started with a “deer tartare (French mustard, shallots, lingonberry, truffle mayonnaise, marinated fungus, caramelized sunflower, olive oil)” (36 PLN) which was absolutely delicious. The combination of marinated fungus, the taste of the truffle mayonnaise, the acidity of the lingonberry in combination with the grounded flavor of the deer really made for a great combination. Absolutely loved that tartare.

The “mushroom dumplings (sweet potato puree, sundried tomato, smoked walnut, persille, frokostblandingskaffe, amber cheese, meuniere sauce, truffle oil)” (32 PLN) were almost as good as they were on the one hand side like home-made food (and who could argue that home-made food is the best) on the other hand side, they had some kind of amazing flavor and texture combination which would just want you to eat more and more of that.

Although we had not ordered a menu, we got a palate cleanser in between and I must admit, the “lemon sorbet with parsley oil” was absolutely amazing. I would not have expected that lemon sorbet with parsley oil was going to be that delicious.

As a main, I went for the “wild boar neck (gnocchi, parsley puree, vanilla, celery, mushrooms)” (57 PLN) with …

… “beetroot, lingonberry in syrup, cherry sauce”. While the boar itself was definitely good and very enjoyable since it basically fell apart when you would just pinch it with a fork and go very well with the reduction, the gnocchi with which it was served were just heaven. I mean, the combination of the mushy gnocchi with the slight vanilla flavor, and the mushrooms, and – I mean, I can’t really describe it but it was like flavor having a party in my mouth. The beetroot on the other hand was too sour for me and didn’t really add to the dish.

The “cod (baked potato, cauliflower, young vegetables, currant, beurre blanc, pork, crackling, chives oil)” (46 PLN) was okay. But in comparison with the boar, it was definitely kind of a ‘disappointment’. Again, not bad at all but definitely not in the same league.

The place is super lovely in terms of interior design and just creates a feeling of being comfortableness the moment you sit down. And Phil did his part to make sure that we had an amazing experience.

To sum it up, I can definitely recommend you to visit Corrèze if you are looking for good dishes for fair prices in a lovely atmosphere and exquisite service. Booking in advance didn’t seem necessary for late lunch but I would assume that a booking is to be made to secure a space in the evenings.
