Extremely swift business lunch but far from a culinary experience: Restaurant New Castle (6. September 2021)
I think I have never properly been to the Fürstentum Liechtenstein, so I was quite surprised to see that Vaduz is actually quite a lovely place but very small too. What you get at the ‘New Castle’ is a swift business lunch offering for only CHF 24.00. You get to pick between a salad and a soup and I went for the “tomato salad” which was okay but definitely way too much salad sauce.
The “veal stripes in white wine sauce and vegetable rice” was decent – simple, enjoyable, but far from a culinary experience. However, the service is swift and the dishes are brought within a few minutes which is definitely something which I can appreciate for a swift business lunch. We walked in about 1.05pm and walked out by about 1.40pm – including settling the bill which took them about 5-10 minutes which is comparatively long.
The place isn’t really that appealing in terms of atmosphere but functional and does the trick all in all. So, when you’re in Vaduz, the New Castle is okay for a brief and swift business lunch but not something I would deliberately put on my agenda to visit.
