A place not worth visiting: Restaurant Pura Tapa VLC (11. September 2021)
There is a reason why I don’t like to randomly walk into restaurants without having done some proper research before. The Pura Tapa VLC has a rating of 4.6 on Google Maps and I have absolutely no clue how! The place was a little busy with maybe three tables occupied. When asking if there is a free table we were informed that there is and seated. Great so far. Okay, maybe not the best place atmosphere wise since it is located right at a busy street and there is quite some car noise, however, it seemed friendly and it was time for a break after quite some walking. However, although I tried like 5 times to order, the waiter was always like “coming, one second” and passed by again, and again, and again. And then he finally took the order of two beers – and disappeared. I mean, WTF! It can’t take 15+ minutes to serve two beers!
Somewhen later, finally, we were able to place the order for a “ensaladilla rusa” (EUR 8.00) which was okay in terms of taste …
… and the “pescadillo fritos” (EUR 16.00) which turned out to be not only fried fish but also other seafood. Well, generally, that would be considered an upgrade, however, given the fact that I was looking forward to the fried fish and there was literally no information whatsoever about that you would get more stuff, plus the fact that you pay EUR 16.00 for this little fried stuff, is really a rip off.
But was topped by the recommendation of the waiter of “Valencian tomato with canned tuna, anchovies and ham stripes” (EUR 12.00). I mean, okay, I did not dislike it but for a bit of canned tuna and a tomato you charge me EUR 12.00. Not sure that’s how you satisfy customers.
So, in a nutshell – don’t go. Not sure what people who rated the place with an 4.6 on average thought but definitely not much. Clear no go for me!
