Way too expensive for what is offered: Restaurant The Ivory Club (29. September 2021)
The Ivory Club is a restaurant of the Mock Group which seems to somehow the restaurant scene in Frankfurt. It is rather hard to score a table if you don’t book well in advance but sometimes you get lucky and score a table last minute. Once seated at the bar table, I decided to go for a little starter drink and tried the “Ginger Margarita (Patrón Reposado Tequila, agave syrup, ginger, lime juice)” (EUR 15.00) which was quite enjoyable. Only the fact that the waiter wanted to bring me a Ginger Mojito instead and I only accidentally overheard that the order was wrong left kind of a negative impression.
What you get for what you pay here, is not quite in line to be honest. I mean, paying EUR 59.90 for a “Triple Star Prime Filet (One & Only USDA Prime Filet Mignon)” and an additional EUR 6.90 for the “Palak Spinach (Indian Cream Spinach)” just seems to be a rip-off on every level. And considering the fact that the meat wasn’t even that good, it is really just hype and not really a great dining experience.
The atmosphere is generally nice, resp. appealing but is also a bit special as the light is strongly dimmed and somewhat unpleasant. The waiter did a decent job but is strongly trained to be friendly and over does it in terms of ‘trying to hard’. So, all in all, The Ivory Club is decent for a dinner but nothing more than that. And definitely too expensive.
