Perfect to take in the last sun before winter comes: The George Terrace @ Sandeman (6. November 2021)
There is a variety of different small restaurants on the Vila Nova de Gaia side of the Duoro river – and the “The George” at Sandeman is nothing special but somewhat nice. We went for some little nibbles like the “four units of bacalao with garlic dip” (EUR 8.50), “a cheese and bread platter” (EUR 8.50) as well as a “cold cuts platter” (EUR 8.50). The bacalao cake with garlic dip was great, the cold cuts platter was decent too but the cheese was somewhat of a disappointment and definitely too heavy on the bread side of things.
The bar inside is actually quite nice and definitely enjoyable in terms of atmosphere. However, if you show up there in the early afternoon, the place is perfect to sit outside and take some sun in.
All in all, the The George Terrace @ Sandeman is a decent place for a couple of drink, some nibbles, and taking in some sun on the terrace. The service is friendly and given how busy they are, they are actually rather quick too.
