Simple but delicious Mexican dishes: Restaurant Tacos Sonorita Olas Altas (22. November 2021)

| February 14, 2022 | 0 Comments

Sometimes, simplicity wins. After a luscious dinner the previous night, it was time to try something authentic and local, so we went for the Tacos Sonorita Olas Altas and it’s really that. A simple place (although more for tourists I figured during the evening as there were barely any locals) and I tried what is apparently one of their signature tacos. I went for the “tacos de arrachera (flank steak)” (115 MXN) which is super simple in the way it is served since you just get the tortilla and the meat.

At least, they put everything else on the table so you can prepare your taco according to your gusto.

The “queso fundido con chorizo” (118 MXN) was a messy deal – oily and fatty. But actually quite tasty. It’s not entirely easy though to be able to eat that without making a huge mess.

We had also ordered “guacamole with chips” (75 MXN) which was, all in all, quite tasty (I mean the guacamole).

The place is simple but nice – it provides you with the atmosphere with a simple but typical Mexican place but a bit poshed up for tourists.

The service was swift and friendly – although there was one thing which didn’t quite work. We ordered a dessert and they put it on the bill but never brought it. And when we asked again they said that they had run out of the dessert – not really the nice way.

What is way nicer though is the fact that they offer homeless people a bite – at least that was what it looked like when I left the place. So, all in all, the Tacos Sonorita Olas Altas offers a kind of authentic experience in a simple surrounding with good service and tasty dishes.
