Definitely not worth the 15km travel from Puerto to Nuevo Vallarta: Restaurant El Coleguita Mariscos (26. November 2021)

| February 20, 2022 | 0 Comments

Apparently, the El Coleguita Mariscos is one of the best seafood places in the area but I’m not sure that’s entirely true. Upon arrival you’re served a “shrimp broth” which was quite nice and helps you perfectly to warm up which was nice.

They offer a variety of different dishes like the “tuna in a special soy sauce (400gr)” (349 MXN) which was surprisingly good but not out of this world.

The “taco de pescado estilo baja (70gr)” (30 MXN), the “taco coleguita gobernador (80gr)” (49 MXN) and the “taco de pescado al pastor (70gr)” (30 MXN) was a plate I created by selecting different tacos as a starter. And I must say that they were actually fine. I mean, the flavor profile with the different sauces they were served with plus the tortilla wrapped around them made it a good starter but again, nothing outstanding.

The “premium coconut shrimp (270gr)” (369 MXN) which is one of their signature dishes was fine too. I mean, the shrimps themselves were actually tasty, especially if you dipped them in the sauce they provided, but the rest of the plate didn’t really add much. The rice was boiled too much and the banana mash (which is under the shrimp and you can’t see right now) wasn’t enjoyable at all to me.

While the food was, at best, average, the service crew really did their best. They were super friendly, super attentive, super swift! Really nothing to complain about here.

The place is super simple in terms of interior decoration but I suppose it serves the purpose to sit down and get something to eat. Personally, far from the ‘best mariscos’ I have had but absolutely okay. It is definitely not worth the 15km ride from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco to Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit. So, if you are in Puerto Vallarta, don’t bother going here.
