One of the better restaurants and yet far from outstanding: Restaurant Sucas (8. December 2021)

Finally, I found a place which was better than all the restaurants I had tried before on Tenerife. The Sucas offers a “menú degustación” (EUR 65.00) which starts with small snacks which are basically fried strips of dough but were nice.

Then, some “bread (regular, tomato, curry) is served with butter and salt” which is quite nice.

The “three pequeños bocados” definitely looked appealing and I must say that I was okay with that. I mean, it’s far from surprising or creating a taste experience but it was fine.

The first entrance was a combination of “salmon, dill, potatoes, and beetroot” and while it looked actually quite nice and appealing, it was fine. The cured salmon was a bit too intense and the other flavors didn’t distribute so evenly. What I liked a lot were the small intense potatoes though.

The second course was “beef neck pieces with a fake asparagus risotto” – definitely better than the previous dishes but still far from amazing.

The main course was a typical Spanish dish – although I cannot remember the name and was informed that it was basically not that typical after all since it is usually not made out of these ingredients.

The second course looked appealing and I actually like the meat and the texture how it was cooked. But again, rather average – and again served with a ‘fake risotto’.

The pre-dessert which was a combination of some sweet based on a slightly acidic avocado mousse was not enjoyable.

While the final dish was somewhat tasty overall.

The place is nice in terms of interior design and the service was generally good too. The fact that one of the waiters was smelling like sweat when approaching didn’t really positively contribute to the experience though.

The sommelier made sure there was wine with each dish. Or at least kind of. Meaning, there was one glass of wine served without a dish, and then there was some waiting involved when getting some dishes and the wine wasn’t there yet. So, the Sucas is a lovely place, a nice atmosphere, generally capable service, and okay dishes. But it does not live up to the standards I have at quality cuisine.
