Sometimes, simple does the trick: Restaurant La Tapa (11. December 2021)

Sometimes, the most simple things are the best! Okay, to be fair, patience is something you need to bring, but if you do, you get a nice experience at La Tapa. Once you’re seated you get a little bowl of “chips and empanadas” to bridge the waiting. And while the chips are good and so are the empanadas (although I wasn’t remotely able to determine what the filling was), it is necessary to have them on the table since you have to wait a bit to get your first bite.

The “gambas al ajillo” (EUR 9.00) and “croquetas de jamon” (4x EUR 1.20) were served after some time. And while the croquetas were truly nice, the gambas al ajillo were only okay. Still, it’s simple dishes and they are enjoyable.

If you’re into eggs, the “huevos rotos con chorizos” (EUR 9.00) are actually quite enjoyable. I liked the potatoes and the chorizo pieces and some of the egg – but for me personally, it was definitely too much egg to enjoy for a longer time.

The “solomillo de ternera salteado” (EUR 15.00) on the other hand was good. The meat was perfect poco hecho as requested and was actually good in quality. It was lacking some salt and the potatoes some sauce but when I asked for a bit, it was actually brought to the table rather swiftly. And in that combination, it turned out to be a very good dish.

All in all, the La Tapa is a super simple place – but still preserves its atmosphere through its vivid spirit. Secondly, the service is friendly but since there seem to be only two people, everything is a bit chaotic leading to the fact that you have to be patient to get what you want. If you’re up for that, then you should definitely try the La Tapa.
