Decent traditional dishes to be enjoyed outside in the cold: Restaurant Vivanda (2. January 2022)

| March 19, 2022 | 0 Comments

The Vivanda is a Bib Gourmand restaurant recommended by the Guide Michelin and that’s okay. However, what you get isn’t really mind-blowing in my humble opinion. The “calamares a la andaluza con mayonesa cítrica” (EUR 16.00) were rather basic and the calamar was quite chewy.

The “tarro elaborado en casa de sardines en escabeche con tostada de crema de hierbas” (EUR 16.00) was something I personally enjoyed since it’s something you don’t get in every place. The sardines had an intense flavor but went well with the cream of herbs.

The “canelón gratinado de pollo, cerdo y ternera” (EUR 12.00) was decent – but nothing more than that.

The “carrillera de jabalí a la cazuela con puré de nyàmeres al palo cortado, chalotas y castañas” (EUR 18.00) on the other hand was actually enjoyable. The meat was tender, rich in flavor, and with the sauce, it turned out ot be a tasty dish.

The “fricandó con trompetas de la muerta (1/2 porcion)” (EUR 15.00) was fine too although the meat was a bit chewy – and there could have been a few more mushrooms.

The “rabo de buey al vino (1/2 porcion)” (EUR 15.00) was, again, a very simple dish.

The fact that you’re seated outside (and are not informed about this when booking your table) was a bit of a turn-off given it was early January and not really that warm. Luckily, I had brought a warm jacket which allowed me to not freeze but they don’t even have heaters for all tables which is somewhat disappointing. In any case, the place is decent but nothing I would personally return back to.
