An authentic Italian food experience where I hadn’t expected it: Ristorante La Pollarola (18. March 2022)

| April 30, 2022 | 0 Comments

Since the Restaurant I had booked via the hotel didn’t really acknowledge my reservation, I had to go somewhere else and eventually ended up in the La Pollarola. At first, I was a bit pissed since I really wanted to try the restaurant I had originally booked. However, it turned out that the La Pollarola was actually a great choice. As a starter, the “Il Fritto Dello Chef” (EUR 10.00) was okay. I mean, it was really just fried stuff. Not bad but also not amazing in terms of food experience.

However, with the primo, the “Riso Burro Parmigiano Reggiano ’36 mesi’ e scorsa di limone confit” (EUR 12.00) things changed. The rice was amazing! It was smooth, rich, still a bit coarse, tasty, and creamy. And in combination with that tiny bit of lemon confit, it turned out to be a super delicious bite.

The “Guancia” (EUR 18.00) on the other hand was okay but far from great. The meat was definitely tender but it was not what you would wish for in terms of quality of the meat. I suppose it’s what you get when you order ‘guancia’ but I was still somewhat ‘disappointed’. However, they somehow made up for it with the amazingness of the atmopshere and the friendliness of the staff.

The inside is generally lovely …

… and they make sure you have everything you need and want. Plus, they have a quite extensive wine list with a lot of great wines which are more than fair in price. So, if you’re looking for authentic Italian food in authentic (loud) Italian atmosphere, then it’s pretty prefect if you make it to La Pollarola. Booking in advance is highly recommended though!
