A place to eat when you’re hungry, not a place to revisit: Restaurant Taverna d’El Foment (27. March 2022)
It is never a good idea to pick a place when you’re starving since it always kind of leads to the same result that you’re just having something to satisfy your craving for food which isn’t really the way to go if you want to have great food. In any case, the Taverna d’El Foment looked decent from the outside and we decided to sit down outside (which turned out to be too cold). As a starter, I went for the “roasted meat croquettes” (EUR 6.20) which were okay – warm, meaty, but far from exquisite.
I definitely preferred my second starter, the “black pudding with pear and apple” (EUR 6.50) since I really like black pudding and the combination with the sweetness of the pear and the apple turned out to be a great bite. Defintiely my favorite dish that lunch.
The “Catalan style sausage” (EUR 8.50) with “Allioli” (EUR 0.50; not in the picture) was okay. I mean, it is a sausage which is served with a few vegetables and with French fries. And that’s really it, nothing special, nothing exciting, nothing super delicious but functioning and defintiely serving the purpose of filling your stomach.
The place is decent and the service is friendly – all in all nothing to complain, but also all in all nothing to celebrate. If you want a quick bite and don’t mind much about an experience, the Taverna d’El Foment is okay – else it’s not a place I would return to.
