A good lunch bargain in a nice setting: Restaurant Au Premier @ Hotel Metropol (5. April 2022)
It’s a bit more than two years ago since I’ve last been at the Au Premier in the Hotel Metropol in St. Gallen and since I have last been there, they have changed the menu. The “lunch menu” (CHF 35.00) starts with soup or salad. And I went for the “roasted cauliflower soup” as a starter which was warm. Yeah, warm – since it didn’t really taste like much.
Luckily, the main course, the “braised veal breast slice (CH) with port jus served with white wine risotto and market vegetables” was much better and actually deliciously rich. So, the starter wasn’t great but the main was.
And since I’m not a big fan of sweets, I asked if they could switch the dessert for the “salad with cooked mushrooms and home-made dressing” and that was easily possible – and the salad was actually enjoyable too.
The place itself is nice since the interior is modern and the setup of the tables gives you some privacy. The service is attentive, swift, and friendly. So, all in all, the Au Premier remains a decent place for lunch – not the best food you will ever get but absolutely good and more than fair in price!
