An exquisite dining experience with near-perfect service: Restaurant Schorse im Leineschloss (14. May 2022)

| June 13, 2022 | 0 Comments

The Restaurant Schorse im Leineschloss is located right next to the Restaurant Vot-um which has one Michelin star – and they seem to share a kitchen (at least that’s the impression from the outside). Once you’re seated – and make sure you book a table in advance as else it’s rather tricky to find something on a Saturday evening – you are served some “bread and spread” with good bread and tasty spread.

I decided to go for the “four course menu” (EUR 49.50) which started with “salmon, butter milk, cucumber” and was actually delicious. The smoked salmon was aromatic and enjoyable, the butter milk did its part to add to the whole experience, and ultimately, the cucumber rounds added to the texture experience of the dish through their crunchiness.

The next course was the “beef tartare, truffle mayo, egg yolk” which was surprisingly enjoyable. Surprisingly since the dish was actually exquiste. The combination of flavours and textures really made it a perfect bite. I mean, probably not the best tartare per se in terms of meat but the combination of the different elements really made it highly enjoyable.

Next in line was the “egg, peas, potato foam” and, again, it was great. I love the combination of potato foam with egg yolk anyway already, and the other small elements like the peas, the herbs, and the oil really made it a lovely and outstanding experience.

The fried chicken is usually not part of the menu, but when I saw it as one of the main course options, I asked for that instead of the beef – and of course they would change it since the chicken is about EUR 12.50 cheaper than the beef if you order it as a normal main course. The “Schorse’s Fried Chicken, chili mayo” was great. The chicken is tender and juicy, the breading is spicy and delicious, and ultimately, the chili mayo is fine – and plenty. So, really a perfect kind of main course in my view.

The waiter, a guy who is half French and half German, did a marvelous job at attending the table – attentive, friendly, jovial – just the right balance between being up for a chat and being professional so you would have everything you need wand wanted.

The place itself is nice in terms of interior design – nothing mind-blowing or the like but definitely a nice interior design and if you look at the back of the room, then you can definitely appreacite the interior design. That being said, I think the Schorse im Leineschloss really kind of makes it easy to enjoy – lovely atmosphere, great service, delicious dishes, and a very fair price for what you are getting. Worth booking in advance!
