Absolutely outstanding drinks in an amazing setting: No. 27 Bar & Lounge @ The Shelbourne (21. May 2022)

I had originally planned to stay at The Shelbourne Hotel which is an Autograph Collection hotel – so, one of my favourites in the Marriott group. However, it turned out that this weekend was a Rugby match, so things were kind of in the incredibly high hotel prices area making it somewhat unappealing to stay here. Since we’ve walked by earlier this day twice, we figured, we should give this place a try and went in. The No. 27 Bar & Lounge was buzzing upon arrival around 10.30pm, and I get why.

They have a friendly and professional waiters who are very attentive and happy to help. When I asked Cain if there was a discount for Marriott loyalty members, he took the request up and went to clarify – unfortunately, there is not, but the place is still worth visiting. I went for the “The Shelbourne Bramble (method & madness gin, raspberry and apple coulis, lemon, sugar)” (EUR 16.00) to start, and I must say the drink looked lovely and it was also tasty. However, there was one issue, the crushed ice was too dense so whatever was below it never did really make it to the top and the paper straws don’t help in this endeavour to suck things up to the top as they got stuck with crushed ice.

Next, I went for the “Interstellar (Grey Goose la poire, del maguey VIDA mezcal, butterfly pea caramel, lemon, sauvignon blanc)” (EUR 16.00) which looked interesting – and tasted interesting. I mean, the drink itself was fine, the butterfly pea caramel on the other hand was great to look at – although it was just colorized melted sugar, it was a nice change to everything and had a mesmerizing effect on the alcohol intake.

The last drink of the evening was the “Purple Halo (pisco, Glendalough gin, purple yam, Avallen calvados, Olorosso sherry, orgeat, lemon)” (EUR 16.00) which was kind of perfect to finish off – sweet, nice, round.

I truly liked the No. 27 Bar & Lounge – stylish, professional service, good drinks, not cheap but worth it. All in all, if you’re in Dublin and look for a nice bar, the No. 27 is definitely a place I can recommend you to visit.
