Great for a cheap lunch menu if you’re patient – and only then: Restaurant Dudu 31 (27. May 2022)

Sometimes, you find quite nice places where you would not expect it and especially the fact that they offer very reasonably priced lunch menus is quite appealing. However, you have to be quite patient since the service is friendly but not necessarily the most attentive. I went for the business lunch menu (EUR 12.90) which started with an “Eden Salad (wild herbs salad with avocado, Hokkaido pumpkin and apple-lemon dressing)” which was fine in terms of quality and ingredients. However, if you say you serve a salad with avocado and Hokkaido pumpkin, I somehow expect a bit more than one cube of each. After the incredibly tiny salad, I was already afraid that the main course would be as disappointing.

Luckily, the “Soul Soup (traditional Vietnamese soup with rice noodles in a rich beef broth, with spring onions, coriander, Vietnamese basil and fresh sprouts)” and the “lemongrass tea” (EUR 5.80) were both great. The soup was not only plenty, it was also nicely spicy, rich, and just very enjoyable. Definitely a good dish, especially, when it’s raining outside like it was that day.

To sum it up, if you are patient, the Dudu 31 is actually quite a nice place for you to sit down and enjoy your meal for lunch – but that is only if you are patient. I am not sure why exactly but it seems that the friendly waitresses are a bit uncoordinated, i.e., there is no clear responsibility for each table but they seem to roam freely and if you’re lucky, two different waitresses walk by in 2 minutes, and if you’re not, you’re waiting more than 5 without encountering one.
