A decent restaurant experience but definitely with room for improvement on all levels: Restaurant PY (11. June 2022)

I was looking for a regular but still nice experience and the PY is exactly that. It’s part of the Bib Gourmand recommendations of the Guide Michelin, and it’s a good recommendation. But, you have to be a bit patient. Once you’re seated, you can already find some “cheese madeleines” on the table, and they are quite nice to get your palate started.

They offer, even on a Saturday evening, a set menu which includes a starter, a main, and a dessert for EUR 29.00, which is quite a bargain. I went for the “asperges blanches et oeuf mimosa relevé de vinaigre de datte, gourmandise de volaille à l’andouille de Guéméné” as a starter and that was quite fine. Frankly, nothing which was blowing my mind but definitely something which was enjoyable.

As a main, I went for the “Plume de cochon français rôtie, velours de fenouil et polenta, sucs de cuisson à l’huile marine, copeaux d’anguille fumée, crumble de citron confit” which was great since the meat was tender and rich. And the lemon sauce was definitely a great add to the meat. A great, tasty, and refreshing dish.

Since I was too full for a coffee, they basically offered me the coffee for free, which was quite nice. The place is simple but appealing overall – not the greatest place ever, but definitely enjoyable. The service on the other hand could improve a bit – I mean, they were super friendly and helpful, but they were only limitedly attentive and relatively slow. So, if you’re in a rush, this is not the place to visit. If you’re not, it’s quite okay. To summarize it, the PY is a decent restaurant experience – good but not exquisite.
