Another delicious Bib Gourmand find: Restaurant Aneton (22. June 2022)

Another great Bib Gourmand find – in the midst of a hard day’s work when the weather is unbearable (in terms of heat), it’s best to step out and get some delicious food in. I went for the “multicoloured cherry tomatoes, watermelon, cucumber, olives, peppers, feta, basil” (EUR 11.00) which were great because the tomatoes are truly aromatic when eaten in Greece (I suppose because they are produced locally, but didn’t inquire).

The “sea bass carpaccio with yellow cherry tomatoes, peppers, ginger, avocado” (EUR 16.00) was definitely interesting – rich in flavour, good quality of the fish, a citrus based dressing – and really pretty looking.

The “fried octopus in a semolina crust, red lentil hummus, carrots, onions, chilli, balsamic gel” (EUR 15.00) was quite okay – not the best fried octopus I have had, since it was a tiny bit chewy, but still very enjoyable and not so oily and fatty as they so often are.

The “spring rolls with graviera cheese, artichoke-cashew pesto, wasabi, pickled lemon” (EUR 9.00) on the other hand were nothing inspiring. They were mainly dough – and tasted like that. Of course, the ‘pesto’ helped a bit in terms of flavour experience and profile, but all in all, it was far from exquisite or outstanding.

The place is simple, modern, but appealing, and is in line with the service which is attentive, friendly, and making sure you have everything you need and want at all times.

All in all, the Aneton is a good find for lunch and definitely recommended being visited. There is another Bib Gourmand restaurant right next to it, which also looked nice, but was a bit more crowded – maybe also worth visiting during another trip to Athens.
