A really pretentious place with surprisingly good dishes: Restaurant Buddha Bar (10. July 2022)

| August 15, 2022 | 0 Comments

I have been to the Buddha Bar in Dubai and Kiev and despite the fact that it’s a rather pretentious place, I like it since the food is overall quite tasty. I went for the “edamame” (EUR 7.50) as a starter, which is always nice.

The “assortment of steamed dumplings (beef, lime chicken, shrimp, vegetables)” (EUR 25.00) was not too bad either. I mean, definitely not the best dumplings I have had, and each dumpling is for sure not worth EUR 5.00, but it isn’t bad overall.

The “assortment of rolls (Special California, Salmon Avocado, Pink Lady, Shrimp Tempura, Incredible Salmon)” (EUR 29.00) on the other hand was quite nice. The quality of the rolls was good, and the flavour combinations were interesting.

The “boeuf sauté” (EUR 36.00) was quite delicious. I mean, I liked the way it was prepared and the little spicy note to the experience.

What I didn’t like so much was the way you’re treated when you do not order a main. Which we ended up doing. So, basically, they want you to order a main, else you have to go eat on the balcony. I mean, I get that to that degree that they don’t want you to just have a glass of water. But if you’d order 5 starters, then it wouldn’t be okay. But if you order one main, it is? That doesn’t make any sense, plus isn’t mentioned anywhere when booking the table. On top of that, the online reservation system doesn’t work. I had booked a table – and they couldn’t find my reservation. I mean, come on!

So, to sum it up – the Buddha Bar is a hilariously pretentious place. And nothing more. Not worth visiting again.
