When you have to pay ‘cash only’ in 2022, it makes you wonder: Restaurant Ho Lo Asia Charlottenburg (13. August 2022)

One thing I still don’t understand is the fact that in today’s world, after Corona, you’re still not able to pay by card. At least, they tell you in the very beginning once you sit down that you can only pay cash. Still, I don’t get why you would not be able to pay by card or any other digital means. In any case, the place is simple, nice, quite lovely – and offers good Asian dishes. I started with “edamame (steamed edamame with sea salt)” (EUR 4.50) which were plenty and all in all good.

The “golden dumplings (crispy dumplings with chicken and shrimps, served with sweet soy dip)” (EUR 4.90) were quite nice. They had a nice filling with a lovely flavour and worked well with the soy sauce. Definitely a tasty dish.

The “curry duck (crispy baked duck filet with sweet potatoes in red curry and vegetables, served with fresh salad, herbs, peanuts and rice)” (EUR 11.50) looked not too appealing, but was actually absolutely exquisite. The duck meat was of good quality and had a nice crispy crust. In combination with the vegetables and the salad, it turned out to be a great bite. To which the sauce in which it was served definitely added its part.

The place is simple, but lovely – and has this kind of very typical interior design, which you would expect from Asian restaurants.

The staff is friendly and attentive and makes sure you have what you want and ask for at all times. All in all, I can recommend the Ho Lo Asia – with the exception that you cannot pay by card.
