Perfect for a traditional, down-to-earth lunch in a nice little patio: Restaurant Riithalle (18. August 2022)
If you are looking for simple Swiss dishes in a simple but appealing atmosphere, then I can definitely recommend you to try the Riithalle. I went for the “simple sausage-cheese-salad (sausage, cheese, salad with cervelat from Zurich and Gruyère cheese)” (CHF 16.00) which turned out to be quite a portion, especially for a starter. I mean, the dish was nice and quite typical in terms of sausage-cheese-salad.
The “fish crisps (deep-fried perch fillets (DE) in beer batter with home-made tartar sauce and lettuce with croutons)” (CHF 31.00) were a bit too greasy for my gusto, but other than that, the dish was quite nice. And there was sufficient sauce tartar, which is very often not the case.
The restaurant is actually a former horse stable and has a nice garden patio in the back (which is quite lovely to sit down in summer). The service is super friendly and surprisingly quick given how many people were there to eat at the same time. In any case, booking in advance is highly recommended, although it seems that it is not a must when the weather isn’t perfect.
