An amazing new restaurant in the Kongresshalle: Restaurant LUX (6. September 2022)
The Restaurant LUX is a place which has opened only recently, and I completely missed out on if it wasn’t for a friend who mentioned it. It is a new restaurant which was built as part of the new Kongresshalle – and which is quite lovely. Not only in terms of interior design, as the place is spacious, full of light, and modernly designed – I absolutely liked it. But it also has a rather interesting and good concept for lunch, which is CHF 49.00 and starts with “bread and spread”.
Then, you get to pick a soup and another starter. I went for the “pho soup with poultry, vegetables and udon with watermelon tataki with mint yogurt” which are both served at the same time as a starter. When I got that served, I was a bit taken aback as the portion seemed quite small. Turned out, it actually wasn’t (a) that small and (b) this would be compensated by the main course. The pho soup was a bit too weak, in terms of intensity of the broth, for me, but otherwise enjoyable.
As a main, I had chosen the “sautéed char filet with jasmine rice, grilled cicorino rosso and citrus-ginger vinaigrette” and while it, again, didn’t look all too exciting, I must say, it was actually quite a good main course. The char wasn’t dry, and the citrus-ginger vinaigrette definitely added to the flavour profile. The ‘grilled cicorino rosso’ was definitely something you don’t have every day, and it was giving the dish an interesting twist.
The staff is super friendly, and they are also quite swift. Frankly, all in all, this is how a business lunch experience should be – lovely setting, good and friendly service, tasty dishes, and fair prices. Make sure you book in advance.
