Better than the name would suggest: Restaurant The Food Bar (14. September 2022)

The name of the restaurant isn’t really that appealing, since “The Food Bar” is really just kind of lame name. To be fair though, the place is quite nice since the interior design is lovely, and you get to sit outside if you want. It’s key though to book your table in advance, since it was absolutely packed. I went for the “Dim Sum (pork, chicken, gambas, beef, sweet chilli, soy sauce)” (EUR 14.95) to start which is a generous portion and quite fine in terms of taste.

The “tuna ceviche (leche de tigre, yellow bell pepper, coriander, lime)” (EUR 19.95) was looking lovely, but wasn’t entirely my flavour. Somehow, they had a ‘leche de tigre’ soup in the middle, which was somewhat overwhelming and dominating the flavour profile. It was good in terms of the ingredients used, it wasn’t so good in terms of the taste profile.

What was definitely more enjoyable was the “Yellow Fin Tuna Tatar (poached egg, black truffle, roasted focaccia)” (EUR 27.95) as the tuna was rich and full of flavour. The egg on top added a bit of a different texture, but wouldn’t have been necessary. The roasted focaccia was a good match, it could have been a bit more though, as this was eaten after 2/3 of the tuna tartar were gone.

If you ask for a ‘crêpe Suzette’, you will always condemn someone to prepare it at your table (which none of the staff likes really), but it’s a fun show where you get to see the flames going into the sky. Yeahi.

Finally, the “crêpe Suzette” was maybe not the prettiest of all dishes, but it was a good and tasty one and the perfect ending to a day full of food.

There is nothing wrong with ‘The Food Bar’. It’s that, a bar which serves food and actually quite good one. However, I somehow was a bit disappointed that there weren’t more Spanish-like dishes on the menu. In any case, all in all, it’s a nice location with good service, tasty dishes, and overall fair prices. Booking in advance highly recommended.
