A lovely place which offers local dishes at local prices: Restaurant Yawmiyat (11. October 2022)
I was keen to explore the neighbourhood of the hotel a bit and started strolling through the city to find the ‘Yawmiyat’ which is a typical local restaurant offering good local food. You’re served a couple of pickled vegetables and olives to get started, which is nice to bridge the waiting time until your order is taken, and your food is served.
Then, I went for my absolute favourite, the “Hummus Kawarma” (37.00 SAR) and tried “Hindbi” (31.90 SAR), which is intense yet refreshing. Not sure, what exactly it is, but it was definitely something which was overall enjoyable. So, in terms of starters, it was quite amazing. And so much cheaper than the ‘high-quality’ brands you find in other locations.
As a main, I went for the “Arayess” (57.75 SAR) which was okay. Sure, not bad, but also rather simple and standard and definitely, at least in my opinion, not at the same level as the starters.
The place is simple but appealing, and the service is friendly and generally attentive. You cannot tip with the card, though, which makes the process a bit annoying. Other than that, I can recommend the Yawmiyat, it’s a nice local place with decent food for a very fair price.
