Good Latin American dishes with a German twist: Restaurant Paracas I (29. October 2022)

| December 22, 2022 | 0 Comments

Whenever I’m in Berlin, it feels like I’m eating too often in Asian(-inspired) restaurants, so I, decided to do something else in the evening. I went for the “tapas platter” to get started, which is quite extensive. It was priced at around EUR 12.00-EUR13.00, so, I was quite surprised how much food you would actually get for that. In any case, I would not necessarily call it ‘tapas’ as we know it from Spain, but rather the ‘German version of tapas’.

The “empanadas mixtas (3 different, stuffed dumplings, served with Salsa picante)” (EUR 7.50) were nice. Definitely enjoyable, but also a bit dry, so the ‘salsa picante’ definitely contributed positively to the experience here.

The “ceviche de pescado (fish filet stripes in a spicy lime onion marinade, served with fried manioc, roasted corn, and fresh coriander)” (EUR 17.00) was great. Personally, the fish slices were cut a bit too generously thick, but in combinatoin with the leche de tigre, the onions, and the corn, it was a nice bite!

Last but not least, it was time to finish with the “gambas al ajillo (7 gambas in garlic white wine sauce, served with salad)” (EUR 16.00). What I liked a lot is that they had asked if I wanted them pulled out or pull them out myself. They are tasty, a bit too dry for my personal gusto, but a great ending to the dinner.

The place is super simple in terms of decoration and interior design, but it was completely packed, so, it’s recommended to book a table in advance. On top of that, the service is friendly and attentive. And if you speak Spanish, then it’s actually improving the service (or at least that was my impression).
