A great Middle Eastern buffet experience with a belly dancer and live music: Restaurant Amaseena @ Ritz Carlton (11. November 2022)

When I was looking for nice restaurants in Dubai (to which I hadn’t been yet), the Amaseena popped up. So, I was rather curious what kind of cuisine I was to expect. Since I was not really spending time informing myself, it turned out to be a buffet restaurant which live music and belly dancers. Oh, well! And it turned out to be ‘Moroccan night’ for the buffet (299.00 AED / person).

You’re seated at a little sofa corner which is nice and comfortable, but has a bit of an unusual height for your legs, which makes sitting down a bit trickier than expected, so, it’s a position you need to get used to. Once you are seated, and get to study the menu, it was time to order a drink, and I went for a nice mocktail called “Arabian Oasis (pomegranate juice, Moroccan tea, ginger syrup, date syrup)” (40.00 AED) which was refreshing and light.

Before you are actually getting to the buffet, they will serve you a “chicken shawarma” plus some “Arabic bread” which are both quite nice. The fact that the bread is fresh from the oven and still very hot definitely adds to the experience.

Then, it was time to indulge in the buffet, which starts, optically, with dessert. Although I didn’t really try any dessert, there were quite a few nice elements on that buffet …

… ranging from Moroccan delights …

… to more traditional desserts …

… and the mandatory fruit selection.

Of course, if you wanted, you were also able to enjoy some “Arabic coffee”, which I skipped though this day.

There is quite a nice selection as a starter buffet offering all kinds of spreads like “beetroot hummus”, “regular hummus”, “beetroot mutabel”,”muhammara”, “kishkhel”, “wine leaves”, …

… “muska”, “okra salad”, “tabouleh”, …

… to very simple salad ingredients like leaf salad, corn, tomatoes, beetroot, carrots, and the like.

If you are more into pickled vegetables, you could also find those at the buffet …

… as well as an assortment of different samosas and dumplings.

Then, there was a selection of a variety of tajens like “chicken tajen”, “shrimp tajen”, …

… as well as “lamb couscous”, “vegetable couscous”, …

… “caramelized onions”, “chicken couscous”, …

… as well as “lamb neck tangia”, which was surprisingly good (although there is not too much meat on a lamb neck).

The place is quite lovely in terms of atmosphere and also quite alive. It wasn’t packed, but the fact that you have live music and a belly dancer who dances quite impressively, was definitely nice.

All in all, the Restaurant Amaseena is worth visiting, since the location is lovely, the seating setup is comfortable and nice, and last but not least, the food is overall quite tasty for a relatively fair price. Make sure, though, to come hungry, since you should do at least 3-4 courses from the buffet.
