Decent and good dishes with good service: Restaurant Loris (11. December 2022)

I’ve passed by Loris twice, but somehow never bothered to enter. When it showed up with a 4.7 rating on Google Maps, I decided to give it another try. And frankly, I was quite positively surprised. As so many places, Loris was quite empty on a weekday. That was great since it meant that the service was quick. Before having even placed the order, an “amuse bouche” was served which was kind of a spread and a few buns – quite lovely really.

As starters, we went for “meat hummus (hummus, meat and pine nuts)” (50.00 SAR) which just remains my absolutely favourite type of hummus and the “Armenian Cheese (Armenian chilli cheese with tomato and green pepper)” (33.00 SAR), which was great too. It was like a hot pocket with a bit of cheese and chilli inside – but in a tasty and classy way.

As a main, I went for the “meat ras asfour with cherry sauce” (78.00 SAR), which is something I quite like. The sweetness of the cherries really balances the heavy meat tastes quite a bit, which is nice.

I find the kitchens always super swift in Saudi Arabia – the moment you order your food, it is basically already served. Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration, but not too much. So, we kind of felt like leaving after the dinner, but were surprised with a complimentary sweet from the kitchen, which was also quite nice.

The place is not only swift, the food is also good, the service is friendly, and the prices are very decent. So, all in all, I can definitely recommend visiting Loris. Not sure, it’s a 4.7, but it’s definitely good and worth visiting.
