Quite perfect for a fondue during the cold season: Fondue-Chalet Klosters Hüschi @ Wienachtsdorf beim Bellevue (18. December 2022)

| February 16, 2023 | 0 Comments

It’s about three years ago since I’ve last been to the Wienachtsdorf beim Bellevue, and I was very much looking forward to it again. Although there was only limited availability online, I was surprised that it was comparatively empty. Once you’re seated, a waitress takes care of you and brings you the menu. I went for a “garnished winter salad (seasonal leaf salad, pickled pumpkin, grapes, cores, balsamic cranberry dressing)” (CHF 13.80) which was quite rich and nice.

The “cheese fondue moitié-moitié (Greyerzer and Vacherin from Fribourg (300gr per person)) (CHF 31.20 per person) with “pickled vegetables” (CHF 6.80) and “boiled potatoes” (CHF 7.20) was quite nice. The cheese is tasty, there is plenty of bread, and the whole thing is just enjoyable. However, CHF 7.20 for four boiled potatoes is just a rip-off, considering buying 2.5kg is about CHF 2.90 or the like.

The “sauteed winter spinach” (CHF 7.80) is tasty and a good balance to the relatively heavy cheese dish.

For dessert, I went for the “ginger bread cream with crumble and Röteli plum” (CHF 12.80) which was quite okay. In my opinion, it could have had a bit more ginger bread cream and fewer plums, but it was still a good dish.

The place is nice and cosy when you’re sitting on lamb fur inside the house, and it’s cold outside. The staff is friendly, and takes well care of you. All in all, the Fondue-Chalet Klosters Hüschi is a nice place during a cold day to enjoy a typical warm Swiss dish inside.
