Returning to the same place after 30 years: Restaurant O Litoral (4. January 2023)

It is a good 30 years ago since I’ve last been here, while I was on vacation with my parents. So, not so much because I figured this must be exceptional in terms of food, but much more for nostalgia reasons, I decided to give the O Litoral a try. And started the lunch with “cutfish croquettes and seafood” (EUR 6.40), which definitely looked surprising since they were black (which I hadn’t expected). And they were actually also rather delicious.

Secondly, I went for the “Pica Pica beef steak” (EUR 11.90) as a starter, but it turned out to be almost more of a main course. I mean, it was good since the meat was relatively tender, but it was definitely quite a portion, and I was not sure if you needed a main course after this.

As a main, I went for the “grilled sea bass” (EUR 17.90), which was not only a good portion, but was also nicely grilled and greatly prepared. Simple, yet enjoyable.

The “Algarvian salad” (EUR 3.90) I had as a side dish was simple, but it did the trick to get some balance with the fish. So, definitely good and sound.

The place is simple and has the advantage of being one of the few places which is located right next to the beach area, so people come here for lunch and to grab something small quite a lot. And I must say, I get that. Because, despite the fact that it’s far from fine cuisine, the place is nice, and the service is swift and friendly.

On top of that, the dishes are actually quite good and enjoyable – not really expected, but definitely a place you can drop by if you’re in the vicinity.
