A perfectly swift and industrialised lunch experience: Restaurant Luigia Zurich (9. January 2023)
It’s almost a year ago since I’ve last been to the Luigia Zurich, despite the fact that I’ve driven by a variety of times. What keeps me a bit reluctant to go is the fact that the reservation process is not really what one would call efficient and user-friendly. Before you actually have the possibility to place your order, you are brought a little piece of dough with bacon cubes inside, which is quite lovely but a bit unusual.
I went for the “ravioli del plin al sugo d’arrosto” (CHF 23.00), which were quite nice. They are cooked well to be almost al dente, and the filling was tasty too. All in all, a good and simple sound dish.
The “insalata siciliana (datterini tomatoes, capers, oregano, salted ricotta, basil)” (CHF 12.00) is more thought as a side dish, but I decided to have it as a starter. But since both dishes were basically served at the same time, it ended up being the second dish since it couldn’t get cold. I must say, I liked it quite a lot. Despite the relatively strong, overwhelming taste of capers.
The place is buzzing and quite full at all times, which makes the speed of service a bit of a gamble. Sometimes, things are rather swift and you get everything within minutes. Then again, you need to wait quite a bit of time waiting until you get what you want. All in all, the experience at the Luigia Zurich is good – it’s a perfect swift lunch experience.
