Decent Bib Gourmand experience focussing on black truffles: Restaurant Le Lauracée (15. February 2023)

| May 3, 2023 | 0 Comments

Given they had something special on the menu, a “truffle menu” (EUR 115.00), I decided to give it a try, since it was also the easiest way to pick something from the menu. The first course was a “mise en bouche découverte”, which was basically scallops with black truffle. And while I am always sceptical about scallops, since they are usually not that great, I was positively surprised. Not the best scallops ever, but it worked.

The “foie gras en soupière, velouté de courge au jus de truffe et copeaux” was quite nice. The combination with the black truffle worked much better than I had expected, somehow (as I’m more a fan of white truffle).

The “Œuf en brouillade au râpée de truffe” is a bit unusual since it’s some kind of pastry, which reminds me of “Lozärner Pastetli”, but just with a more fancy kind of finishing with black truffle.

Then, it was time for “quasi de veau comme un rôti, purée généreusement beurrée, lamelle de truffe” which was surprisingly nice too. I mean, for all the dishes, they were kind of very simple, but pimped with black truffle. So, it’s not like they were memorable, but they were sound and enjoyable.

Finally, the last course was “choix de votre dessert à la carte”, meaning you were allowed to pick something from the menu, and I went for the cheese. It was quite nice since it the cheeses were quite intense and hence a bit ‘surprising’ in terms of selection, but I liked it.

The Le Lauracée was completely booked out on a Tuesday evening, which I found quite surprising really, hence, I would absolutely recommend you to book in advance. The place is simple, but nice, and the staff is friendly and attentive. In terms of ‘level of English’, not everyone is fluent to the same level, but one gets what one wants. All in all, the Le Lauracée is a nice place for a dinner.
