A French-Italian mess is what you get here: Restaurant Totti (9. March 2023)

A French-Italian mess is probably how I would describe my experience at Totti. I was there in the context of a larger dinner setting with a pre-determined menu, so the choice were relatively limited. As always in France, you have these tiny tables where you find no space to deposit anything or to have two plates with food on the same table. And yet, you manage.

The group was rather hungry, but it took the service quite a while to realize and to take the order. Once we kind of pushed them that we’re hungry, it was time for the starters. The starter was basically the “burrata pugliese, cherry tomatoes, olive oil and fresh basil” and despite the fact that it was just one option, I must say, it was quite exquisite. The burrata was nice, and the quality and flavour of the cherry tomatoes was actually better than expected.

However, when it came to the main course, and I had decided to go for the “veal escalope Milanese style, linguine Neapolitan style”, I was far from happy. The escalope was dry, thin, and lacked kind of everything besides maybe dryness. And the pasta was definitely overcooked. So, all in all, really not something you want to eat.

The service was very much, depending on the individual waiter or waitress. While some were super attentive and friendly, others were not really present and walked past the table a few times before actually showing up and taking up the order, bringing more wine, or taking the empty plates off the table. So, to sum it up, been there, done that, don’t need to return.
