Quite a lovely dining experience with overcaring service personnel: Restaurant Dasha (20. March 2023)

I was looking for a place I hadn’t visited yet and which was rated quite high on Google, so I found Dasha, which – with a 4.8 – seemed definitely interesting. And I must say, it was. The place is located in The Esplanade, which is a place where many restaurants are located – and quite many new ones. The interior is nice and appealing and the staff is actually quite friendly and attentive – if you ask me, actually overly attentive, so they are there all the time, which just seems like too much.

Once you’re seated, you get some “cashew nuts” as nibbles, which is quite lovely.

I went for the “crispy soft shell crab bao (Dasha pancake, soft shell crab, wasabi cream, cucumber)” (75.00 SAR) and I must say, it was great. I mean, the bao was delicious and had a nice bite to it. However, the wasabi cream sauce was not really something all too exciting.

I absolutely loved the “black pepper duck (braised duck, black pepper sauce, duck consommé)” (55.00 SAR) though. Honestly speaking, just fancy looking dumplings, but besides the fancy look they were actually thus great in terms of taste.

The “green beans (stir-fried beef, Kenya beans, preserved Szechuan chilli)” (58.00 SAR) were better than expected. I mean, it is not like this is the most exciting kind of food ever, but it was definitely something enjoyable and tasty.

The “ancient Hainan bowl (Hainan style stock, braised chicken, ginger chive sauce)” (55.00 SAR) was not too bad either. Although, I must admit, of all the dishes I had tried that evening, it was definitely the weakest of them all. The others really had some spice and nice and interesting flavour profiles. This one was rather boring.

Once you were done with everything, you would get a “fortune cookie” and the funny thing was that one part of it was sweet, which is a bit uncommon really.

All in all, the experience at Dasha was actually quite an enjoyable one. The food is largely great, the prices are fair, and I must say that the overall atmosphere and service are great too. Personally, it’s a bit too much in terms of service (i.e., they are there literally every three minutes, which is nice, but it doesn’t allow you to have a break). Sometimes a bit less would be a more.
