A lovely place for a glass of wine and some Italian antipasti: Restaurant Italia (24. July 2023)
I have heard about the Restaurant Italia already a few times, but somehow never managed to visit the place. Finally, it was time to do so, and it was a nice experience. The place is lovely, but also a bit alternative. But, they offer a nice selection of antipasti – and, hence, went for a selection of “prosciutto crudo” (CHF 13.00), “fonocchiona (thick fennel salami from Tuscany)” (CHF 13.00) and “buristo (spicy Tuscan blood sausage)” (CHF 13.00). And frankly, I absolutely liked the selection of meat cold cuts I tried.
On top of that, I also tried a few different cheeses like the “robiola incavolata (soft goat cheese from Piedmont)”, the “Camembert di bufala (super creamy camembert di bufala from Casa Madeio from Campania)”, the “Gorgonzola Novara”, and the “Nababbo di Capra (very intense goat milk taleggio)” (CHF 26.00). I love the idea that you get to select the cheeses you want to try from the overall list – at a ‘flat price’. And I liked the selection of cheeses I’ve done. Last but not least, I also went for the “alici con salsa verde” (CHF 12.00), which are basically anchovies. And yes, they are anchovies and aren’t anything special, but I really like anchovies, so, they were actually enjoyable.
I was curious to try the “gnocchi al gorgonzola e radicchio” (CHF 30.00), which ended up not being as good as I had expected. The gnocchi with gorgonzola were nice, but the radicchio really didn’t add anything to the dish. It rather made it worse.
In any case, the place is quite alternative – but I would highly recommend you to try it if you like to get a few antipasti and enjoy an Italian evening.
