6. August 2011: Grand Café Prachtig
The really great and interesting part of the Grand Café Prachtig is the location. It is located right next to the Erasmusbrug and is, therefore, somewhat inviting because it is located on a bit a lower level so you don’t get bothered by the traffic but on the other hand have the nice view on the channel. The furniture is nice and inviting as it is somehow built like a lounge with large pillows and wooden elements so you feel more like sitting at a beach than anywhere in the middle of a city.
A glass of white wine costs around EUR 2.50, so pretty much nothing. The price performance ratio is, therefore, pretty awesome. What is not so great though is the service, but at this point in time, I realized, this is kind of normal in the Netherlands – service is just not their strongest point. So, overall, the Grand Café Prachtig is a great place to have a glass of wine, sit down, enjoy the sun somehwere near the channel. It is not so great though when it comes to service – we had to wait long, when I wanted to pay, I was told that I should talk to the other waiter who was not anywhere close to us at that moment instead of him going to get her – well, service is a disappointment.
