The perfect place to have a pitstop when visiting Thailand’s former capital: Restaurant View Wat Ayutthaya (15. January 2024)

If you have a bit of time, I would highly recommend you to visit Ayutthaya, the old capital of Thailand, which is about a one-hour drive from Bangkok. Definitely worth doing so. There are a lot of temples, and they are quite impressive, and the summer palace of the royal family is equally impressive. So, I would highly recommend you to do that!

There are also nice restaurants, where you probably usually wouldn’t end up as a tourist, but the View Wat Ayutthaya is one which is conveniently located next to two large temples, hence, the perfect location for a break. I went for the “green curry with chicken and roti” (120 THB), which was good. The curry was a bit too spicy for the fact that I had requested it ‘non-spicy’, and the roti was a bit too greasy for my personal gusto, but the food was overall good.

What I liked was that you had a view onto the surrounding temples, which were quite nice. I mean, you got to watch the temple from the cool inside while people were walking through it in the scorching heat of noon. That being said, still, go and visit it. It’s worth it.

The View Wat Ayutthaya is the perfect small break spot for your temple visiting tours – simple, but good food, and all of it in a nice setting, friendly waiters, and for basically no money.
