A nice place, but somehow a little bit overpriced: Restaurant Brasserie Süd (1. February 2023)
Somehow it seems like the Brasserie Süd exists for a while. Personally, I wasn’t really aware of the location and was, hence, quite curious to try it. To start, we went for the “light sourdough bread from the Collective Bakery with salted mountain butter” (CHF 6.00), which was nice, but which it also should be given you have to pay CHF 6.00 for bread and butter.
As a starter, I felt like a “Caesar salad with chicken breast (pork belly, Parmesan pine nuts)” (CHF 29.00), which was served differently than I had expected. So, you actually get pork belly chunks in the salad, which is lovely, but you also get almost a whole chicken breast on the side, sliced in slices. I mean, sure, this works, but it is not really how you would expect Caesar salad to be served.
As a main course, I decide to go for the “Paccheri (lobster ragout, fennel sugo, basil)” (CHF 42.00), which definitely belongs to the more expensive pasta dishes, but which isn’t all too surprising given there is lobster in it. Even if the price is steep, the food is good, so it’s ultimately worth paying for it.
The place is a typical Brasserie – loud, crowded, alive. However, when it comes to the typical Brasserie, there is actually one thing different – the tables are big enough! So, it’s the Brasserie style without having tiny tables! All in all, worth visiting, but not sure, it’s a place I’ll visit on a regular basis.
