6. September 2011: Ristorante L’Osteria im Künstlerhaus

| September 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Vitello Tonato (around EUR 8.00) is astonishingly good. While the plate looks pretty much massively covered in tuna sauce it is absolutely tasteful. The meat is good, the sauce is good, the combination tastes great. Absolutely a good dish and more than okay in price.

The dish the L’Osteria is most famous for are the pizzas. And well, they are not only very good but also really, really big. I wanted to have a Pizza Crudo con Rucola (about EUR 9.00 for a whole pizza) but I decided that I’m only going to eat half a pizza and it was a good decision. The pizza is huge! But also, it is rich in flavour. The pizza is thin and the crust is crunchy but not too dry. The tomato sauce is tasty, the prosciutto crudo (raw ham) is absolutely wonderful and the rucola is fresh – a great combination. Just keep in mind: The pizzas are truly large!

The atmosphere in the L’Osteria im Künstlerhaus is nice. The rooms are spacious, high, traditional and modern at the same time, just a very appealing atmosphere. I guess, the name of the place already implies that: Künstlerhaus means artists house in German.

The service is very friendly and competent in general but as the place is pretty crowded you have to be patient as you have to wait a bit until you get served. But at least the waitresses are real eye-candy and the crowd is nice too.

Overall, the Ristorante L’Osteria im Künstlerhaus is a great place for pizzas and Italian dishes in general: Great food, low prices, friendly service, absolutely nice atmosphere. The only thing you have to make sure is that you book a table in advance (especially when you’re in a larger group) and that you are accordingly patient until you get your dishes served (and even your drinks).
