Decent food offering for a late night dinner: Restaurant Elstar @ Hotel Imperial Riding School, Autograph Collection (29. June 2024)

What I found quite surprising, but on a positive note, was the fact that you could still order something to eat by like 10.30pm. I was almost the only guest in there, but they were superbly friendly and attentive and made sure I didn’t feel like the guest no one wanted to serve towards the end of the evening. I went for the “Elstar’s Garden Salad (apple, pear, mushrooms, nuts, mangold, carrot dressing)” (EUR 12.00), which was nice. Especially, the addition of apples and pears to the dish gave it a little sweet hint, which was quite enjoyable.

As a main, I decided to go for the “Szegediner Mangalitza pork cheek (garden vegetables, Bohemian dumpling, bacon cubes)” (EUR 28.00). The dumpling was a bit too dry for my personal gusto, but it went well with the rich sauce. The meat was delicious, as it would pull apart easily and was just great in terms of texture and flavour. Luckily, they didn’t have an issue replacing the cabbage with garden vegetables as a side, and they were good and well-cooked.

All in all, the Elstar is an absolutely decent restaurant, which offers a small, but good menu. The interior is okay, nothing mind-blowing, but absolutely fine, and the staff is friendly and generally does a good job. So, if you stay at the Hotel Imperial Riding School, Autograph Collection, it’s more than fine to dine here.
