Mentioned in The World’s 50 Best Bars – I wouldn’t agree: Jungle Cocktail Bar (17. August 2024)

The Jungle Cocktail Bar is mentioned on The World’s 50 Best Bars, and I must say I was about to say, yeah, this is possible after the first drink. But that impression changed once I had gone for more. I started with the “Jungle Club (Gimlet, Citrusy & Fresh; Beefeater Gin, Aperol, Grapefruit, acidified orange juice)” (3’000 ISK), which was truly delicious and refreshing.

Then, I tried the “Piblet Comes Home (Gimlet, Green, Icelandic & Fresh; Brennivín, Basil, Green Apples, Lime)” (3’000 ISK), which was somehow something like a disappointing Basil Smash.

The “Dolla Dolla Bill Yall (Creamy, Fruity & Fresh; Bacardi Quattro, Cashew Orgeat, acidified orange juice, apricot)” (3’000 ISK) was better again, but it still wouldn’t – personally – live up to the expectation of something worth mentioning in the World’s 50 Best Bars.

The place is nice, though. It starts with the entrance downstairs and continues above – the interior is really nice and enjoyable.

The staff is generally friendly too, but somehow it seems they are not the quickest (especially went it went to me ordering two bottles of sparkling water (since they only seem to have small sparkling water bottles in Iceland)).

So, all in all, the place is nice in terms of location, however, it isn’t too great in terms of cocktails, hence, not really sure it’s a place I would highly recommend visiting.
