Tasty dishes, but incredibly overwhelmed service staff: Restaurant Le Bologne (2. September 2024)
The Le Bologne was rated rather high, so, I decided to give the place a try. The fact that it took them about 10-15 minutes to bring the menu and take my order should have been warning enough. Sure, I get it, there are quite a few people, but frankly, it was a bit of an annoying situation because I ultimately waited about 45 minutes until I got my starter. The “moules marinieres, caponata et focaccia” (CHF 20.00) were actually okay, however, they were only lukewarm – so, the impression it left was that the dish has been standing on the kitchen counter for a while before it was finally served. Given it was already almost 9pm, I didn’t really want to complain.
Luckily, the “pluma de pata negra, teriyaki et mousseline au wasabi” (CHF 50.00) turned out to be absolutely delicious. The meat was perfect, the sauce was intense and highly enjoyable. The potato foam with wasabi was okay, but was – for my personal gusto – a little too foamy, and it turned out to be rather hard to eat with a fork. But the meat was truly exquisite.
So, in all fairness, if they would be on top of their service, I would highly recommend the place, as the food is good, and the prices are absolutely fair – however, given you have to be super patient and the starter was served luke-warm, I am less inclined to recommend Le Bologne.
