The perfect place to celebrate an occasion like a birthday: Restaurant Zunfthaus zur Waag (20. September 2024)
It’s approximately 2 years ago since I’ve last been to the Zunfthaus zur Waag, so, it was time to visit again. As a starter, I went for the “tomato soup with gin” (CHF 12.00), which was decent but felt a bit small for the price. Still, a good start for a decent lunch.
Since the Zunfthaus zur Waag is famous for its Austrian cuisine, I decided to go for a typical dish from Vienna, the “Wiener Schnitzel” (CHF 54.00), which was actually quite good. Nicely thin, lovely bread crust, and good cranberry sauce served with it.
The side dish, the “potato salad”, was – in comparison – a bit disappointing. Not that it was bad, but somehow it was not really living up to its neighbour, the Wiener Schnitzel.
The interior of the restaurant is generally nice and lives off its traditional design. It feels like you’re going to a very fancy restaurant from back in the 80ies. But in a lovely and positive way! The waiter was super professional and attentive, and made sure you’d have everything you wanted and needed. So, I can recommend the Zunfthaus zur Waag as a place to celebrate an occasion like a birthday or the like. Make sure to book your table in advance!
