Good breakfast, but only once the kitchen has fully waken up: Restaurant Sushisamba @ W Edinburgh (10. October 2024)

While I do like the breakfast options they have at the W Edinburgh, I must say, you should not go too early since somehow they need to get the kitchen started. I had to wait a good 20 minutes between placing my order and getting my “Scottish Breakfast (potato scone, link sausage, streaky bacon, tomato, haggis, flat cap mushroom, black pudding, scrambled eggs)” (GBP 25.00). At least the beverages had arrived earlier, but frankly, 20 minutes is too much to put a few things into a pan and heat them up. Funny enough, the rest of the group who went to have breakfast quite a bit later, got their things served within less than 10 minutes, so it seems to be an early morning issue.

In any case, the Scottish Breakfast is quite nice – sure, heavy, but since I like haggis and black pudding, it is quite a great start (probably not for my heart, though).

I also picked the “Rebel Benedict (toasted muffin, smoked ham, poached eggs, Sriracha Hollandaise Sauce)”, which costs an additional GBP 10.00, but was never charged. Frankly, it was quite nice too, so, all in all, the food options are good.

The staff is super friendly and makes sure you get everything you need and want – however, that is only fully true when the kitchen is fully up to speed. So, if you stay at the W Edinburgh, then I can recommend you to have breakfast here, if you’re not staying, I would probably not come by for breakfast.
