An absolutely atmospheric location with traditional Scottish dishes: Restaurant The Dome Grill Room (11. October 2024)

| January 22, 2025 | 0 Comments

The Dome Grill Room is definitely breathtaking in terms of location, respectively, in terms of interior design. The place is literally located in a dome, as the name suggests, so, it has a unique atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive and within no time we had our dishes served. To start we went for something to share, i.e., the “beef tartare (spicy tomato, egg yolk, toasted sourdough)” (GBP 16.50), which was hand-cut, and had a nice texture to it – plus when you mixed all the ingredients, it was also tasty in terms of flavour profile.

Secondly, we had the “haggis & black pudding bon bons (tomato dipping sauce)” (GBP 11.50), which were only three, which was a bit disappointing, but at least from a taste perspective, the dish was great. They could easily have served more than three bon bons, though.

As a main, I went for “The Dome steak pie (puff pastry, black onion seed, tender stem broccoli, mashed potato)” (GBP 19.50), which was great. Now, what was in deed a bit surprising was the fact that the pie was not actually a pie, but the pie filling was served in a bowl, which was a bit disappointing. However, looking at the taste of the ‘pie’, I must say it was a great dish.

The “rocket & Parmesan salad” (GBP 5.50), which I picked as a side dish, was definitely not necessary. I mean, you definitely had enough with the previous dishes, but it felt like it was something to balance off the intense meat loaded dishes with something ‘healthy’. Not sure if it was really healthy, but it was at leats tasty.

So, to sum it up, The Dome Grill Room is definitely a great place where you can enjoy delicious dishes and all of that in a nice atmosphere. Depending a bit on when you arrive, you might end up getting a table, which is relatively exposed, and you don’t have too much privacy, but if you’re okay with that, then The Dome is pretty near perfect as an experience.
